Ledges of Little St. James, St. Thomas
July 5, 2013

Depth: 40 ft.
Time: 50 minutes
Weight: 8 lbs.

This dive site had more fish than the other reefs because fishing is prohibited in the area. We saw a porcupine puffer fish, Caribbean lobster, spotted eagle ray, nurse sharks, and a lot of trumpetfish.

Not only did we see a nurse shark, porcupine puffer fish, trumpetfish, Caribbean lobster, and other tropical fish but we got to touch a sea slug, a sea star, and an arrow crab!

Dive Number 21

Cow, St. Thomas
July 3, 2013

Depth: 42 ft.
Time: 50 minutes
Weight: 8 lbs.

Our instructor/master diver was Travis from Red Hook Dive Center. We saw three eels, a Caribbean lobster, and tiny sea stars. Apparently, if you dive this reef in the winter you might see a whale. After the dive, Steve and Patty passed homemade coconut pineapple bread around the boat… yum!

Dive Number 20

Arches and Tunnels, St. Thomas
July 2, 2013

Depth: 38 ft.
Time: 45 minutes
Weight: 8 lbs.

This was a drift dive but with strong surge instead of a current. Swimming through the arches and tunnels around the dive site reminded me of a lost city. We saw a Caribbean lobster, trumpetfish, and some juvenile spotted drum.

Dive Number 19

Shallow Grass Cay, St. Thomas
July 2, 2013

Depth: 57 ft.
Time: 45 minutes
Weight: 8 lbs.

Our instructor/master diver was Miki from Red Hook Dive Center. We saw a barracuda, moray eel, Caribbean lobster, and a beautiful blue and yellow angelfish. Still no sign of an octopus though…

Dive Number 18

Mingo Passage, St. Thomas
July 1, 2013

Depth: 45 ft.
Time: 50 minutes
Weight: 8 lbs.

On this dive we saw a southern stingray buried in the sand, a couple of trumpetfish, and other tropical fish. Tom showed us a beer bottle he has hidden in one of the coral. Back at the dive shop, he gave us free Fools Gold Crew shirts!

Dive Number 17

Congo, St. Thomas
July 1, 2013

Depth: 57 ft.
Time: 45 minutes
Weight: 8 lbs.

Our instructor/master diver was Tom from Red Hook Dive Center. He is 70 years old! Besides a spotted eel, there were not many new and interesting fish around the reef.
